Biography

As Professor of Developmental Cognitive Neurosciences, Institute of Child Health, and University College London, I have a keen interest in the plasticity of the developing brain to neurological insults, such as epilepsy and hypoxia-ischaemia. My research uses a combination of methods, such as electrophysiology (ERP and EEG), neuroimaging (functional and structural MRI) to map changes in brain function and structure in relation to cognitive development. My research also aims to improve non-invasive diagnostic neuroimaging for children who are candidates for neurosurgery and conducts longitudinal studies in patients who underwent such treatment, with the aim of improving their cognitive and educational development in the long-term.
