Biography
Steve Halligan is a clinical radiologist and Head of the UCL Centre for Medical Imaging. He is Professor of gastrointestinal radiology at UCL and a NIHR Senior Investigator. He has a particular interest in diagnosis of bowel cancer by CT colonography and is a world-leader in this technology; he is the sole radiologist to hold a NIHR Programme Grant, which investigates the use of this technology in the NHS. Other interests include anal imaging (he is the world leader in anal fistula imaging) and the imaging of functional pelvic floor disorders. He also researches evidence-based assessment of high technology imaging platforms via systematic review and meta-analysis and is investigating novel methodological approaches to quantify the diagnostic and therapeutic effects of imaging.
