Biography

Dr Werring is a clinical neurologist and researcher leading a research program into stroke, with a particular interest in neuroimaging and small vessel disease, focussing on intracerebral haemorrhage including cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Cerebral amyloid angiopathy is a key cause of cerebral haemorrhage and dementia. Dr Werring is Chief Investigator for the CROMIS-2 (Clinical Relevance of Microbleeds in Stroke) study (www.ucl.ac.uk/cromis-2), and for studies of new imaging biomarkers for cerebral amyloid antipathy. Research methods include cross sectional and prospective cohort studies, MRI techniques, neuropsychological profiling, CSF biomarkers and neurogenetics.
