Biography

Dr Anna Barnes joined the Institute of Nuclear Medicine at the beginning of 2012 as principal clinicalscientist (Honorary Senior Research Associate) for the Siemens PETMRI scanner located at the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre. Her work has concentrated on finding robust imaging biomarkers for understanding mechanisms of disease or differential diagnosis. She is currently applying these methods to simultaneous PET and MR imaging in Neurology as well as exploring the use of normal databases to inform differential diagnosis of dementia and seizure focus in epilepsy in conjunction with projects lead by Prof Sebastien Ourselin, Dr Jon Schott, Prof Matthias Koepp and Prof John Duncan with support in MRI sequence development from Dr David Thomas and Dr Enrico DeVita. She is also involved in supporting projects lead by Prof Brian Hutton and Dr Kris Thielman as part of an EPSRC grant focussed on complementary methods in PET and MRI.
