Therapeutic T-cells Imaging

Current Projects

Cancer immunotherapy using therapeutic T-cells was listed as the Science journal breakthrough of 2013. One particular challenge of using T-cells is understanding their behaviour by tracking and imaging in living subjects. Where these cells go and what they do is vitally important in understanding how to make treatments safer and more effective. In this project we will engineer the T-cells to not only express a therapy, but also a molecular pump which will selectively take up a radiotracer and highlight the cells in the body. The aim is to make a clinically translatable T-cell tracking agent to follow these cells by PET or SPECT imaging indefinitely.
