Pathology Modelling from Hospital Brain Scans
Allocated in Academic year 2015-16
The wealth of data linked to unique NHS patient identifiers offers exciting opportunities for research leading to advances in patient care” (David Willetts, “Eight Great Technologies” report). We have access to brain MRI scans from thousands of stroke patients, which may offer a rich source of information to relate patterns of damage, clinical treatment, etc to eventual patient outcome. Fast, robust, fully automatic and accurate methods are needed to process these low-quality images in order to identify regions of stroke damage from the collection of scans from each subject.
