Multimodal MRI to Identify Brain Lesions Causing Epilepsy

This project will employ novel ways of using the MRI scanner to identify brain abnormalities that underlie epilepsy, and which have not been found previously. The new information can be included in the software we have created to make detailed 3D-maps of the brain that can be used to direct neurosurgery. This will quickly identify good surgical candidates, shortening the investigatory pathway and improving access. Multimodal voxel-based analysis will be used to identify significant abnormalities in individual patients, compared with control data. Each control will be compared with the other controls and thresholds adjusted to minimize false positives.
