Gary Zhang's piece on the history of Alzheimer's research published in The i

by Georgina Cade

Deputy Director of CDT, Gary Zhang’s fascinating account of the history of dementia research was published in yesterday’s The i as part of his month-long media placement there. In his piece he describes the integral role played by Carol Jennings and her family in advancing understanding about the causes of familial Alzheimer’s, and how research into their genes by Prof John Hardy, and Profs Martin Rossor and Nick Fox at the Dementia Research Centre (DRC) based at UCL led to a breakthrough within the research field that patients at risk needed to begin treatment long before they experienced symptoms of memory loss and thinking difficulties.
