CDT Seminar: Innovation in Industry - from Science to Profit
MR as a modality is still young, and valuable research is performed by the MR research community with the aim to improve the MR acquisition and reconstruction and to develop new clinical applications.
To facilitate this research, we as a vendor have a toolset in place which allows customers to interact with the protocol parameters, the underlying pulse sequences, image reconstruction and image post-processing.
The topic of this presentation will be how to get from these bright, newly developed ideas, to reliable products and ultimately…profit? This process will be illustrated with a few actual examples.
Liesbeth Geerts received an MSc-degree cum laude in biomechanical engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology.
In 2002 she defended her PhD-thesis entitled: “Cardiac myofiber orientation in response to changed mechanics” at the same institution.
In the same year, she started to work for Philips in Best, where she held various positions in Clinical Application and Clinical Science within the Business Innovation Unit MR. In these roles, Liesbeth was responsible for setting up collaborations with academic customers, maintaining a research network, co-creation and clinical roadmap development.
Currently, Liesbeth is heading the BIU MR Clinical Science team. The MR Clinical Science team closely collaborates with key research partners to strengthen our insights into clinical unmet needs, develop new clinical solutions and alert the business of new trends, and opportunities in the marketplace.
